Hi, Vern! So good to hear from you, and welcome to blogging! I've found that this is the perfect way for me to meet and connect with people. I love it - hope you will, too.
If only there were such an easy solution for meeting and connecting with people in the real world, huh? It's just so hard to know what to do and how to fix it. I'm the same way - I talk to the people I know, but make little effort to reach past my circle and include others. Human nature? I don't know, but it's something to think about and work on. I feel very convincted, too, and I only hope that the feeling of conviction outweighs my love of comfort on Sunday morning.
I'll bet you weren't expecting to find something so....intense on your first visit!
You were right about my first visit being a bit intense. But I thought it was a very well-written post.
- It is interesting how the web community environment has progressed. I read an article in the early 90's that was critical of the web-groups that had formed, saying that they enabled like-minded people to hang out regardless of geography. The author argued that that shut out a healthy variety of perspectives from others. It was true in those days because it was mostly the geeks that used the web. But it has evolved in a quite different direction, with blogs, MySpace, Facebook etc.
